About Best Island Coffee from Kealakekua Bay Farms
Our 100% Kona Coffee comes directly from our family to yours. From the steep jungle
terrain in South Kona Hawaii, our coffee is some of the best tasting coffee in the
entire world!
Our farm is located just above famous Kealakekua Bay, the sight of the arrival of
Captain James Cook in 1779 our farm is one if the earliest coffee plantations on
the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The first coffee was planted in Hawaii
in 1817. Our older established trees produce a large well nourished fruit. At an
elevation of 1400 ft. we experience warm morning sunshine, cool misty evenings and
rich volcanic soil, perfect for the developing fruit to become plump dark burgundy
red before it is hand picked.
The coffee is closely monitored, attention to detail. Each bean is hand picked at
the very height of ripeness. The first round of picking begins in August and continues
to be re picked every three weeks as the beans ripen to their full potential for
optimum taste. This process can last up to three or four months. We then pulp and
process this cherry, raking it while it's drying in the full Kona sunshine, this
part of the process gives way to the completely sun dried and hand cared for coffee,
and adds to it's smooth, robust taste and aroma.
Roasting with hot air enhances the beans natural flavor and oils, we prepare for
you two of the most desirable and tasty roasts.
The 'Full City' roast, and the 'Kona Dark'. The difference between the two roasts
is described for you on our order page.
Love for coffee and our land in beautiful Hawaii Nei, Kealakekua Bay Farms and Best
Island Coffee's commitment, is to bring you the highest quality, with the finest
taste and aroma possible in each and every cup of our 100% Kona Coffee from our
